MediaUnion is an All-Russian independent organization, uniting all sectors of the mass media throughout Russia.
MediaUnion is one of the main promoters of the new law on Mass Media defending the rights of all Russian journalists.
MediaUnion has actively contributed to the adoption of the “Russian Advertising Code of Practice” which is designed to create a civilized market and honest advertising.
In 2002, MediaUnion, having involved a broad based social force and leading economic experts from the mass media industry, conducted a campaign to preserve the taxation regime for publishers. This helped overcome a hard-line government position and partially saved their tax privileges.
MediaUnion is also active in organizing professional media contests, such as "Radiomania”, a highly prestigious annual national competition, awarded for the best creative achievements in radio. "Golden Word" - international contest for foreign journalists Another contest, “St Petersburg: Reviving a Dream” was conducted in 2003 and dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Russia’s northern capital. TEFI-Region, award for TV-professionals, is held all over Russia each year. There are many others.
MediaUnion was also very active in promoting the maximum possible coverage of the All-Russian statistical census.
Media Union is open to all forms of cooperation for the development of the mass media in Russia and for the professional advancement of Russian journalists.
